Modernizing the Engineering Behind Global Retail

A global retail leader's digital and in-store experiences ran on engineering platforms that hadn't kept up with the business: legacy tooling, manual delivery and limited visibility into how systems behaved in production. Modernize partnered with their engineering organization to modernize those platforms, automate the path to production and move operations to cloud-native architectures. That work has since expanded into platform and observability engineering.
The Problem
Enterprise engineering platforms relied on legacy tooling, infrastructure and operating models
Build, test, deployment and infrastructure management depended on manual effort and gave inconsistent results
Moving changes through the software lifecycle was slow and hard to predict
Teams had limited visibility into runtime, application and infrastructure performance, so they found issues late
Our Approach
Modernized enterprise engineering platforms, including tooling, infrastructure and operating models
Automated build, test, deployment and infrastructure management to cut manual work and improve consistency
Rebuilt delivery workflows across the software lifecycle and moved operations to scalable cloud-native architectures
Extended the engagement into platform and observability engineering, covering runtime and process lifecycle support, Linux systems, monitoring, tracing and diagnostics
Decades of carrier relationships and agent workflow knowledge went into the design. The platform reflects how this work actually gets done — not how a software vendor imagines it does.
