DaVita's Windows Provisioning team had no reliable way to report patch job success rates. Their automation tooling generated data — but not in a form anyone could act on, and certainly not in a form that could feed the dashboards leadership needed.
Across the environment, three major integrations were either broken, missing, or running on vendor-provided code that introduced security gaps. A key integration between two enterprise platforms had never been properly implemented — configuration data that should have flowed automatically was instead updated by hand, leaving the CMDB drifting from reality.
Our consultant joined the SACM team as an embedded contributor — attending review meetings, owning deliverables, and working within DaVita's processes rather than alongside them. The patch reporting problem was solved by building a purpose-fit pipeline within the constraints of the existing environment. No new licenses, no infrastructure procurement, no waiting.
The platform integration went into production with the security posture the vendor's own version didn't provide. We hardened it before it went live. And when DaVita began work on a major enterprise architecture initiative — connecting infrastructure data to business services for a program scoped to run for the next decade — Modernize-provided data became the connective layer that made it possible.
